Noise Pollution in San Francisco Could be Harmful to your Health!

One of the things you won’t notice (or notice if you just moved here) is the noise in San Francisco from Ambulances, cars, etc…etc…

Although I have gotten used to it, I guess it could be fatal for your health if you live in highly-populated downtown areas.

My suggestion, move nearer to the ocean like I did, near the Sunset district where Ocean wave sounds are more common.

Traffic noise is loudest in the South of Market area but affects the most people in the densely populated Chinatown, Civic Center and Tenderloin neighborhoods.

“Traffic,” Rivard noted, “is the No. 1 contributor to the ambient noise level” in San Francisco.

But the constant hum from congestion is just one of many sounds that environmental health researchers find troubling. They’re also concerned about racket from such sources as sirens, trains and exhaust fans.

I brought a Tent to Ocean Beach!

Well, the other day was the hottest day in San Francisco with temperature reaching up to 94 degrees fahrenheit.

One thing about weather in San Francisco is that it can suddenly go from 94 degrees to 70 degrees in matter of minutes like it did today.  The fog came over Sunset district in matter of minutes and the temperature just dropped like that.

I am glad I did go take my tent to the Ocean Beach the other day though, proud to say that I was the only person with a “real” tent.  It tooks me about 10 minutes to set it up since I haven’t used tents in like 10 years.

Here’s some shots of Ocean Beach you can enjoy.  It was very beautiful and unreal as the ocean mist (as you can see in the pics) covered the whole beach.

These are times I love living in San Franciso.  I took a nice 2 hour nap while hearing the ocean waves, of course in my nice cozy tent.

San Francisco Sunset District Parkmerced Apartments

San Francisco Sunset District Parkmerced Apartments

Sunset district is the part of San Francisco that is next to the ocean, basically the whole west part is mostly sunset.

Why is it called sunset?

Because the sunsets and you can see it everyday if you live in a high rise apartment or a house on a hill.

Of course, you can always head over to ocean beach too.

Parkmerced is a big complex of high rise apartments in the SF Sunset district area.  This is where I live.

Now, Parkmerced is actually adjacent to San Francisco State College, which makes it great place for college students to live but you do have to face some party noise and lots of construction.

Although I do have my complaints, it’s not that bad when you live on the top 12th floor.

So, if you ever decide to go live at Parkmerced, make sure to get 12th floor.  (The best time is around Summer time between July and August, you should be able to get a 12th floor apartment with an ocean view. )

Right now, I pay about $1800 in rent plus covered garage parking for a spacious 1 bedroom apartment.  The living room is fairely large and diamond shaped so it’s nice.

Sunset district is much cheaper than anywhere else in the city plus there’s lots of really cheap to-go chinese food as there are so many chinese restaurants, they are all competing so you pay less.

Sunset is also a lot less crowded and there’s more parking.  But, don’t expect it to be easy, anywhere in the city it’s a tough contest to find parking.

Other than the view, I guess my next plan is to move out right next to the Ocean and get a small house someday so I can walk to the beach.

Here’s some shots from the 12th floor at Parkmerced:

Twin Peaks Gas Station has Super-Wednesday Super-Cheap Gas!

I used to work in downtown San Francisco and live in Sunset district (I still do…), and go by this Twin Peaks gas station. I remember they always had the cheapest gas in the whole SF Bay Area. Today, I saw a sign that said, “Super-Wednesday Super Gas Price Reduction”. Maybe it was there before too but now I know where to go to get the cheapest gas in town.

Even if you don’t go on Wednesdays, you will find that Twin Peaks gas station always finishes up in Top 5 for the cheapest gas in San Francisco over at Gasbuddy.com. , , , , , , , , , ,
