Twin Peaks Gas Station has Super-Wednesday Super-Cheap Gas!

I used to work in downtown San Francisco and live in Sunset district (I still do…), and go by this Twin Peaks gas station. I remember they always had the cheapest gas in the whole SF Bay Area. Today, I saw a sign that said, “Super-Wednesday Super Gas Price Reduction”. Maybe it was there before too but now I know where to go to get the cheapest gas in town.

Even if you don’t go on Wednesdays, you will find that Twin Peaks gas station always finishes up in Top 5 for the cheapest gas in San Francisco over at Gasbuddy.com. , , , , , , , , , ,

George W. Bush Sewage Plant coming soon to San Francisco?

San Francisco’s Sewage Plant, or water processing center which is located right on the south end of Ocean Beach, might be named after the President George W. Bush.

Go sign the petition and help honor the President Bush today!

Aye, this will be great since there were Bush supportors yelling out his name every year or so at Ocean Beach.

San Francisco, California (Fox) - A group called the Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco has launched a ballot initiative that would rename a city sewage treatment plant the “George W. Bush Sewage Plant.”

A petition is being circulated that would put the measure up for a vote in November. If it passes, it will rename the city’s Oceanside Treatment Plant for the 43rd president of the United States

Fisherman's Wharf, News / No Comments

I was working out and watching news today over at ClubOne and found that a whale was stuck under the Pier 27.  I guess a whole bunch of people and tourists roamed the area looking to get a shot of it.

What I didn’t know was that it was a dead whale.  Poor whale…

The Coast Guard and San Francisco officials are monitoring a body of a dead whale that is stuck under a pier along San Francisco’s waterfront.Officials say the body of a whale about 25 feet long was discovered Thursday lodged under Pier 27.

A spokesman from the Marine Mammal Center says it appears to be a young gray whale.

The Coast Guard says the carcass is not posing a hazard to bay traffic.

Great, a young man is convicted of raping 15 year old.

Arvin Mackey, 22, was convicted Wednesday by a San Francisco Superior Court jury of rape and sexual penetration with a foreign object, District Attorney Kamala Harris said. He will be sentenced July 31.

The girl was on her way to school Oct. 3 when she met Mackey, who took her to an apartment in Hunters Point and sexually assaulted her, authorities said. He drove the girl around for several hours before dropping her off in the Mission District, prosecutors said.

Man hit by bus on Mission Street!

Getting Around, News / No Comments

Lol… SF Bus drivers are one of the worst in the world.  Probably not as bad as bus drivers in Korea but still, you shouldn’t hit people.

A pedestrian was struck and injured by an inbound Muni bus on Mission Street on Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The accident occurred at 3:32 p.m. on Mission Street between Seventh and Eighth streets, according to Muni spokesman Judson True. The victim, a man who was not identified, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The driver was placed on routine leave pending an investigation. Mission Street was closed and traffic was rerouted for about 90 minutes.

Mayor Wants Mandatory Recycling in SF!

Posted by max on September 07, 2008
News / No Comments

Here’s Mayor Newsom proposing more efficient recycling in San Francisco.  I think this is a smart move and Newsom is going a good “green” job.  I just don’t agree with his Parking Meter policies.

So Mr. Newsom will soon be sending the city’s Board of Supervisors a proposal that would make the recycling of cans, bottles, paper, yard waste and food scraps mandatory instead of voluntary, on the pain of having garbage pickups suspended.

TOPR with DJ Quest on May 30th!

TOPR, a freestyle group based out of SF Bay Area, will be doing a live show at Amoeba Music in San Francisco on May 30th.

A freestyle master who first started rhyming in 1988, TOPR burst onto the San Francisco scene in 1993 as Top Ramen. Quickly gaining notoriety in battle circles, he consistently embarrassed the competition with his quick-witted lyrics and scathing delivery.

TOPR joined the the Hip Hop collective Earthlings in 1996 alongside local favorites Safahri, Boac and D.J. Bootleg, he helped build the crew’s reputation as dynamic live performers opening up for such hip hop legends as KRS ONE, LL Cool J, De La Soul, Kool Keith, Goodie Mob, Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip and many others. The Earthlings also toured as an opening act on national tours with Living Legends, Hieroglyphics and Xecutioners as well as participating in many large hip hop festivals such as the Broke Ass Summer Jam, I.T.F., Lyricist Lounge and headlining their own F*ck Pop Convention.

5% Health Care Surcharges at SF Restaurants!

Posted by max on September 07, 2008
Eating Out, News / No Comments

Holy cow, I guess health care surcharges are being added to your bill at restaurants in San Francisco. This is outrageous as price of living is already too high in San Francisco.

Although I don’t go out much these days and started cooking more, I hope this bill goes away by the time I start going out more.

Does this mean we need to tip a little yes? Hell yes, fight for your right, it’s not fair.

Effective in 2008, San Francisco businesses with more than twenty employees must provide health care to all staff members who work over ten hours a week.

SF Parking Meter prices going up during peak hours!?!

Posted by max on September 07, 2008
Getting Around, News / 2 Comments

Well, starting this september, SF Parking Meter prices are going up in certain places during peak hours.  Which does not make sense to me at all as parking tickets in San Francisco are ridiculous already.  Downtown parking tickets are $50 minimum and now they want to add peak hour price hike?!?

All of this of course will use “more” technology embedded in the parking meters which surely means parking tickets will go up too.

Is Gavin Mayor simply wasting his time?  Maybe he should focus on something else, this isn’t going to solve any problems except make the city officials/government rich.

And why do I have to find out about this from a blog in New York!?!

Starting in September, the $23 million SFpark program will use an array of new policies and technologies to raise meter prices during peak periods, so as to make parking more easily available, thereby reducing rush hour driving, cruising for spaces and double parking. SFpark will include 6,435 curbside spots. This is a quarter of San Francisco’s curbside parking, and is roughly comparable to the 6,500 metered curbside spots in Manhattan south of 60th Street. The project also includes variable pricing for the 11,677 off-street spots managed by the city.

High Percentage of Black People in San Francisco Jail

Posted by max on September 07, 2008
News / No Comments

The number of black people in SF jail is increasing while the number of residents are decreasing?

Well, that’s according to the Sheriff, but I don’t think you can really do a real comparison or analysis since there are not that many black people that live in San Francisco.

If gay people did this, it might be somewhat news in San Fran but this title could easily be read as “High Percentage of Asian People in SF Jail” or “High Percentage of White People in Jail”. What gives?
