Here’s a green way that artists have re-done the Broadway tunnel with “reverse graffiti”.

North Beach will be having a Jazz Fest on July 20th through 27th so mark your calendars for some jazzy nights at your favorite beach with no sand.
Kicking off on Sunday, July 20 and spreading over the next week, the visionaries at Sunset Promotions and festival founder Alistair Monroe bring you what has been lovingly referred to as the “Soul of San Francisco.” The festival boasts an annual attendance of over 50,000 and an abundance of free and all-ages programming, making it San Francisco’s foremost urban music festival. In its fourteenth year, this locally produced festival presents musicians who continue to push jazz into the future, while honoring its glorious past.

Replate.org is a great idea except that they should change the location of leftovers to the top of a newsstand instead of the trash can. (Even a homeless person does have standards, they rather would eat out of a newsstand than a trash can)
Apart from Replate.org, I have always seen owners of deli shops leave their leftover sandwiches at store closing on a newstand, again, not a trash can please!

This July 4th, I might be headed out to Tank Hill, located somewhat next to Twin Peaks. I doubt I can see Fireworks as well than being in downtown but it sure beats the traffic and parking tickets.
My new favorite high point in San Francisco is called Tank Hill, because it was once the location of a huge municipal water tank. Today it’s a protected park with a gorgeous day and night panoramic view from the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands all the way across the city and down to the East Bay. I heard about Tank Hill from a fantastic weekly newsletter called Weekend Sherpa, which reveals secret spots around the Bay Area for all kinds of outdoor activities. (Kay Merrill, a family travel planner who lives up on Larkspur, put me on to Weekend Sherpa.)
Here’s a video of it:

Want to help San Francisco by cleaning up? Here’s a great DIY on how to host your own park clean-up in SF.
You don’t have to wait for Earth Day to do some green good around your neighborhood. Host a Park Clean-Up any time of year (weather permitting, of course) and improve your local hang out while making friends with your neighbors. Do it right and you’re sure to get some free coffee too.
Google is having a Google I/O 2-way developer session at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
All you geeks please head over there next week to get some great insights and also talk to the developers at Google.

Here’s another reason why San Francisco finished in Top 2 for the greenest city in the US:
Danny sez, “My pal, Paul Cesewski is “artist in residence” at the San Francisco City Dump. He’s spent the last few months picking through the city’s detritus and turning it all into interactive carnival games: there’s a rimshot bicycle, a human-powered ball run, and more. They’re opening up the dump to show off the giant toys this Friday and Saturday, May 23-24.

TOPR, a freestyle group based out of SF Bay Area, will be doing a live show at Amoeba Music in San Francisco on May 30th.
A freestyle master who first started rhyming in 1988, TOPR burst onto the San Francisco scene in 1993 as Top Ramen. Quickly gaining notoriety in battle circles, he consistently embarrassed the competition with his quick-witted lyrics and scathing delivery.
TOPR joined the the Hip Hop collective Earthlings in 1996 alongside local favorites Safahri, Boac and D.J. Bootleg, he helped build the crew’s reputation as dynamic live performers opening up for such hip hop legends as KRS ONE, LL Cool J, De La Soul, Kool Keith, Goodie Mob, Mix Master Mike, Z-Trip and many others. The Earthlings also toured as an opening act on national tours with Living Legends, Hieroglyphics and Xecutioners as well as participating in many large hip hop festivals such as the Broke Ass Summer Jam, I.T.F., Lyricist Lounge and headlining their own F*ck Pop Convention.
