Tourists in SF Ocean Beach, Being A-Holes!

Last year, I was at Ocean Beach, a bunch of Japanese dudes decided to spit next to me and my kid, while we did nothing to offend them.

They clearly spoke Japanese and it seemed like they were from Japan.

Don’t get me wrong, I am Asian myself, I don’t hate Japanese people but that day was the worst because these Japanese guys decided to smoke cigarettes right in front of my barely 1 year old kid.

Well, that was a long time ago, I decided to forgive them, perhaps they had a bad day in San Francisco.

Today was another such day.  I set up my “usual” tent near the ocean waves, and some “tourists” decided they’d put their beach chairs right “in front” of our tent, so it clearly blocks our view of the ocean while there was enough space on the right or left of us to setup their stuff.

At first, I thought naively that perhaps they were just too drunk or somethin’ but later, they started smoking cigarettes and cigars and the wind was blowing the smoke right into our tent and my 2 year old daughter.

That’s when I realized these folks were just tryin’ to mess with us, perhaps because we are the only ones with a tent at Ocean Beach today.

Whatever the case, I know these folks aren’t from San Francisco.  In fact, there were a lot of people from all over the bay area at Ocean Beach today due to the great weather.

The point is, I don’t hate tourist, I am a tourist myself if I am in another city or country.   Just don’t ruin the local’s weekend out by smoking cigarettes in front of them so the second hand smoke blows into someone else’s kids,  especially if you can avoid it easily.

Today, I experienced one of those “I-am-a-tourist-so-I-will-do-as-my-culture-has-thought-me” a-holes.

Don’t be an a-hole.  It doesn’t matter where you go.   Whether you are in San Francisco, New York, or even Hawaii, just don’t be a dipshit to anyone else.

No one likes bullies.   Today, I was on the verge of tattle-tailing these “toust” folks to (ranger) jail for having a bunch of beer on them on Ocean Beach but I said to myself, I rather not have any negatives in my life and I am sure karma will do more for them than anything else anyways.

Just use your common sense.  Don’t be an a-hole to tourists and tourists should abide by same rules to locals, that’s all I am sayin’.
