Armin van Buuren will be at LoveFest this year!

One of my favorite trance artists, Armin van Buuren will be at LoveFest this year during the outdoor parade.

Don’t miss out on all the fun and make sure to attend the LoveFest this year if you are in the SF Bay Area.  Peace!

A progressive trance DJ and producer whose cinematic sound is influenced by synth pioneers like Klaus Schulze and Jean-Michel Jarre, Armin van Buuren enjoys worldwide recognition and a frantic schedule that takes him all over the globe. Born on December 25, 1976, in Leiden, Holland, his father was an avid record buyer and Armin became interested in music at an early age.

Missing Girl, 12 years old in BayView!

Posted by max on September 30, 2008
Living, News / No Comments

Well, there’s a missing girl who’s now considered a runaway:

A 12-year-old girl missing from her home in San Francisco since Saturday has contacted police and appears to be fine, police said Monday.

Dyhemia Young, nicknamed Malaysia, contacted a police inspector Sunday night and is now considered a runaway, said Sgt. Neville Gittens, a police spokesman.

“Hopefully, by the end of the day, we’ll have face-to-face contact,” Gittens said.

Dyhemia, who lives in the Bayview neighborhood, was last seen about 6 p.m. Saturday in the area of Page and Buchanan streets, police said. Police put out an alert Sunday asking for help locating her.

Folsom Street Fair!

Here, I found some cool pics of Folsom Street Fair which went on today.  Actually, I was driving my motocycle in downtown and saw bunch of crazy people dressed up like this.

I bet most of them were high or on somethin’…. ;)

I swear, San Francisco always hosts the weirdest and the wackiest events in the world, but I like that. :)

Make sure to not miss out on Love Fest next week, I will be there to get a little crazy.

The Bridge - Movie about people jumping off Golden Gate Bridge!

Golden Gate Bridge, Living, News, movies / 1 Comment

Here’s a bridge that is infamous for people jumping off, mostly suicide cases.

Jump to 2:03 on the video to see a real “splash” of someone who had just jumped off.

Download latest version of Flash to view video!.

A lot of times, people do live the fall but a lot of times, people will die instant death upon landing or get eaten by sharks.

I can see why they made a movie about it but is it that complicated?  You either die or live, it’s your choice but make sure you have tried your best before jumping off.

The footage of Gene’s family and friends lamenting his death and him walking around despondently on the bridge are teased throughout the movie, along with 10 or so other jumpers and family/friends of. The filmmakers also tease you with average hooligans, daredevils and the overly curious too— sort of a “i bet you thought…” gag that isn’t funny. Every 5-10 minutes they toss in someone jumping off to satisfy the viewers appetite.

Free Wifi in San Francisco by Meraki!

Posted by max on September 16, 2008
Living, Maps, News / 1 Comment

Meraki has been working on setting up repeaters all over San Francisco to setup free wifi for everyone.

Of course, the project seems to be centered around the Mission district as of now and there’s pretty much none near Sunset and Richmond areas.

You can help spread the free SF Wifi by applying for a free repeater here.

I remember you had to pay like $50 for this before but I guess they are giving them away free to volunteers now.

With the help of volunteers like you, we are building a network with thousands of indoor and outdoor repeaters! Each of these little boxes spreads the network a little further, bringing free Internet access to you and your neighbors. Depending on where you live, you might be able to help us out. And if you can put a repeater outdoors at your place, even better!

Better Streets for more Trees in San Francisco!

Posted by max on September 16, 2008
Green, Living, News, Politics / No Comments

Check out Better Streets, which focuses on building better streets for San Francisco.  Above is what Folsom Street would look like trees.  (Take a look at the Street View of current Folsom Street on GoogleMaps here)

As you can see, there’s still a lot of room for improvement for the 2nd greenest city in the United States.

Here’s an excerpt from the About Page:

The Better Streets Plan will create a unified set of standards, guidelines, and implementation strategies to govern how the City designs, builds, and maintains its pedestrian environment.

The Better Streets Plan process brings together staff of multiple City agencies to comprehensively plan for streets. The Plan will seek to balance the needs of all street users, with a particular focus on the pedestrian environment and how streets can be used as public space. The Plan will reflect the understanding that the pedestrian environment is about much more than just transportation – that streets serve a multitude of social, recreational and ecological needs that must be considered when deciding on the most appropriate design.

The Better Streets Plan will carry out the intent of San Francisco’s Better Streets Policy, adopted by the Board of Supervisors on February 6, 2006.

Everyblock San Francisco lets you check out the Neighborhood Crimes!

Posted by max on September 16, 2008
Living, News, SF Websites / 1 Comment

Check out EveryBlock San Francisco where it tells you nearby crimes, restaurants, inspections, media coverage, and more when you type in a street address.

I would say this is really useful for finding out how safe your neighborhood is but as for restaurants, you might as well just use Yelp. , , , , , , , , ,
